The rest of your life is here.
Live it!
My journey through retirement
...and my mission to make the most of it!

Why this site?
So you stop saying
"one day"
The earliest drafts of the script for my “after‑work life” are scattered across a decade’s worth of notebooks—scribbles captured during meetings where my presence was optional at best. To keep my mind occupied, I made lists. Endless lists. One of them became my Bucket List: a catalogue of everything I hoped to experience before life ever required me to slow down.
On 16 September 2025, the day I retired from the Canadian Armed Forces, every single item on every version of that list was still marked “outstanding.”
That changed within a week. Once retired, I threw myself into the list with real purpose. Within three months, I had already completed two of my top three goals—both of which involved challenging adventures abroad. That’s when the comments started rolling in from friends and acquaintances:
“Wow! I love your stories.”
“I love how you just go for it.”
“Please post more pictures—we love following your adventures.”
Some told me they were living vicariously through me. Others wanted to know how I did it.
Those reactions lit a spark. I realized that many people genuinely enjoy reading about the lives of others—and more importantly, that retirees (and really, people of all ages) want to make the most of their later years but often don’t know where to begin. That insight gave me the push I needed to start blogging, something I had been considering for a long time.
This website is my way of sharing what I’ve learned. But more than that, it’s a space designed to inspire retirees—and anyone craving a fuller life—to stop saying “one day…” and start turning their dreams into reality.
If that resonates with you, I invite you to follow my blog. From volunteering abroad to exploring the sharing economy, I’ll be diving into the experiences that have made my retirement the most rewarding chapter of my life so far.

The/Le QM alliance
What's in the name?
Choosing a name is rarely simple, but in this case, settling on “The/Le QM” felt completely natural. It connects to so many parts of my life that it almost chose itself.
I’m in my early fifties and spent most of my adult life serving as a Logistic Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Because that chapter shaped so much of who I am, I wanted a name that honoured it. The title Quartermaster (QM)—the officer responsible for providing troops with quarters, clothing, fuel, transportation, and essential supplies—felt like the perfect fit. Both my husband and I held Quartermaster roles during our CAF careers: I served with the Combat Engineers, and he served with the Canadian Airborne Regiment. That shared experience made the name even more meaningful.
There’s also a linguistic twist I love. “Quartermaster” translates to Quartier‑maître in French—still QM. It’s a rare case where a two‑word English title doesn’t flip order when translated. As a proud French‑Canadian, this detail matters to me. French is the language I’m most comfortable speaking, while English is the one I’m most comfortable writing. Bilingualism is a core part of my identity, so the fact that QM remains QM in both languages felt like a sign. To honour that duality, I chose to include both versions of “the”: The/Le.
And then came the final, irresistible touch. In 2021, I fell in love with a man whose last name is Quinn. My last name is Morin. When we married on 08 October 2023, the The/Le QM alliance became official—Quinn and Morin, united under the same initials that had already meant so much to us.
Sometimes a name isn’t just a label. Sometimes it’s a story, a heritage, a linguistic duality, a shared past, and a new beginning all at once. The/Le QM captures all of that for me

The/Le QM Charity Shop
In 2024, I decided to integrate my passion for thrifting into a new hobby: an online store where all profits would go to charity. I sporadically practice that hobby that does not generate a ton of money but keeps me busy between long trips, helps reduce waste, and provides me with the thrill of treasure hunting.
In 2025, a total of 950$ was donated accross the following organisations:
-The Terry Fox Foundation Support Cancer Research - Terry Fox Foundation
